This position is part of the Student Organizations unit within the Office of the Dean of Students.
Purpose
The Student Associate will serve as a primary point of contact for student organizations, providing accurate information and answering questions about Student Organizations services and resources. Based in the Student Organization Center (SOC), this hands-on, student-facing role supports student organizations through workshops, peer coaching and daily operations. Communication will take place in person, over email and by phone with members of the Longhorn community.
Responsibilities
• Facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Student Organization Center (SOC) and the Art Center by managing room reservations, scheduling meetings and coordinating resources for student organizations, while serving as a primary point of contact and providing clear, accurate information about SOC services, policies and procedures through in-person, email and phone communication.
• Provide guidance to registered and sponsored student organizations by interpreting institutional policies, procedures and available campus resources.
• Support Longhorn Orientation by assisting with Student Organizations initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops and panel discussions, provide feedback to participants and support student leader development in areas such as officer transitions, organization management and sustainability.
• Serve as a peer coach to student organizations by facilitating consultations, providing guidance on leadership development, relaying relevant University policies and supporting
organizational growth and team dynamics.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry and maintaining up-to-date records.
• Assist with student organization registration processes.
• Support student organizations in achieving their organizational goals.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student
• Maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.30 or above and be in good disciplinary standing with the University
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• A commitment to creating an environment that is connected
Preferred Qualifications
Hourly Pay Rate: $11.10
Working Conditions
• Frequent: Sitting, standing, bending, squatting, walking, talking, listening, viewing,
manual dexterity, repetitive motion on computer
• Occasional: lifting and carrying, setting up events
Work Shift
Appointment: August 2026 - December 2026, opportunity for renewal
• Hours: 10-19 hours per week at an hourly rate of $11.10
• Scheduling: Hours will be scheduled according to the Student Organization Center’s
operating hours: Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
o In addition to scheduled shifts during business hours, students should expect to
work evening hours (typically between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.) on an occasional
basis to support workshops, events and student organization activities held
outside of the standard schedule.
