Position Summary

The Senior Manager for Digital Collaboration Services leads the team responsible for delivering and evolving Illumina’s global email and collaboration services in Microsoft 365 with a strong focus on security, resiliency, governance, and user experience. This role owns the operational health and roadmap execution across core M365 workloads (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Viva Engage) and is an AI evangelist that drives adoption and governance for Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering/operations globally distributed team across regions and time zones; coach technical depth, operational rigor, and customer focus.

  • #LServe as the single‑point accountable owner for collaboration services, balancing security, user experience, cost, and operational risk.

  • Accountable for day‑to‑day administration and lifecycle management for M365 workloads, ensuring effective execution through team and partners.

  • Act as the platform leader for Microsoft 365 Copilot rollout, including business use‑case prioritization, executive readiness, adoption measurement, and value realization, with appropriate governance and stakeholder alignment.

  • Manage vendor/partner engagement as needed (e.g., Microsoft/partners) to support roadmap execution, escalations, and best practice adoption.

  • Serve as the service owner for enterprise collaboration services, ensuring secure and resilient delivery with strong user experience outcomes, including proficient budget and license management.  

  • Govern and operationalize OOTB Copilot agents: establish access/availability policies and manage agent inventory and lifecycle.

  • Lead service operations practices: monitoring/alerting, incident response and escalations, change/release readiness, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and report on service health metrics (availability, incident trends, platform adoption, performance).

  • Own collaboration governance (information protection alignment, tenant policy controls, workspace governance) to reduce oversharing and secure enterprise content.

  • Partner with Security/Compliance stakeholders to implement and sustain controls (e.g., policies for risky workspaces/users, permission hygiene, and retention expectations,).

  • Effectively manages critical business capabilities related to email services including legal-hold and compliance.  

Requirements

  • Proven ability to translate platform strategy into measurable efficiency, risk reduction, or adoption outcomes

  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and technology.

  • Experience presenting findings and challenges to senior executives.

  • Results-focused with a track record of delivering across multiple projects and teams.

  • Ability to lead through uncertainty, resolve conflicts, and adapt to change.

Experience/Education

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in Science, Business, Engineering or Computer Science preferred.

  • Typically has 10+ years of related experience in enterprise collaboration or productivity platforms with Microsoft 365, with 7+ years of applicable management experience.

  • Experience leading enterprise‑scale collaboration platforms supporting 10,000+ users in regulated or security‑sensitive environments.

  • Hands-on leadership deploying and scaling Microsoft 365 Copilot: enablement, adoption, support model readiness, and stakeholder communications.

  • Overall knowledge of most areas within particular Corporate sub-function or a function within an operation.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Manager, Digital Collaboration Services role based in the United States of America is: $155,600 - $233,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
