As a Storage Operator II, you will serve as a critical member of our field operations team, ensuring our storage facilities, caverns, and pipelines operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards. What you will do:
Coordinate with the Storage Gas Controller to monitor, adjust, and maintain storage system pressures, flow rates, and compression requirements to meet nomination demands.
Perform routine operation, inspections, and maintenance on storage facility systems, including compressors, air systems, cooling systems, dehydration units, water systems, oil systems, vapor recovery, fire water systems, and associated safety equipment.
Operate cavern wellheads, valves, pipeline equipment, scrubbers, filter systems, and truck loading/unloading systems.
Identify, troubleshoot, and respond to abnormal operating or emergency conditions to ensure the safety and reliability of storage operations.
Complete internal and external reporting, Maximo work orders, gas-handling procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities to maintain compliance with PHMSA, FERC, DOT, TXRRC, LADNR, and Enbridge standards.
Provide operational support on capital and maintenance projects; orient and oversee contractors; and maintain general facility upkeep, inventory, and parts organization.
Support leaching, backwashing, and de-brining operations, facility security monitoring, and after-hours operational needs, including readiness to remain onsite during extreme weather events.
Maintain Operator Qualification credentials, storage training, and all required regulatory certifications.
Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements; actively participate in safety programs and foster teamwork.
What you have:
Associates degree or equivalent from technical school or 1 to 3 years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong leadership qualities with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, shifts, on-call, and travel overnight as required (approximately 5%).
Physically capable of performing demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
Must reside or be willing to relocate within 30 miles of the assigned facility.
Preferred:
Knowledge of high-speed reciprocating, turbine, and electric units; natural gas compression equipment; pipeline operations; and underground storage facilities.
Strong technical and analytical skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Innovative problem-solving skills and commitment to safety.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in the storage facility environment includes control room HMI activities and outside facility equipment operations Occasional travel. Dynamic, high-pressure work environment requiring the identification and resolution of critical operational problems within extremely short time constraints. Employee must have the ability to remain calm and focused during an emergency to perform all job duties. Group provides 24-hour/365-day service. Work will include any combination of hours in each 24-hour period. Holiday and overtime work are required as necessary. The employee may occasionally be required to take after-hour calls and remain on site during extreme weather events.
The noise levels in the storage environment ranges from moderate to hearing protection required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. While performing the outside duties of this job, the employee is frequently balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
