The DCE Security Solutions and Services org owns a collection of security devices, third party software and firmware, and home-grown software tools and bespoke hardware solutions. This technology provides both physical and data security at traditional datacenters (lease/owned and Colo) as well as Edge and Non-traditional Environments. Our team is seeking System Development engineers with broad technical skills to help us optimize how we connect to these devices and monitor availability. You will deliver a system that monitors health of security devices, understands the criticality of each component, and drives prioritization and alarming for remediation of each system. As a member of this team you will employ Python and Typescript/Javascript and Database query language such as SQL. You will get to use the full set of AWS technologies to build these services. The services that you build will be a force multiplier for protecting the AWS cloud for all customers. This will help us preserve our customers’ trust in us. AWS is a world leader in providing highly available and secure infrastructure in the cloud and it powers millions of customers around the globe.

Key job responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing and documentation of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services.
- Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
- Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
- Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation.
- Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Mentor junior development engineers.

The AWS Data Center Engineering team is looking for the ideal candidate who will draw upon exemplary analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining highly reliable, distributed systems that operate 24/7/365.

As part of this team, you will collaborate effectively with internal end-users, cross-functional software development teams, and technical support/sustaining engineering teams to solve complex challenges and deliver against high operational standards of system availability and reliability.
