What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is in the process of modernizing our core networks to enable new, groundbreaking products and technologies. In this position, you will be responsible for Center Engineering and Vendor Management for various build initiatives across the voice and video networks. You will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects, maintaining involvement throughout the life cycle of a build, in particular to resolve technical issues as they present themselves. As a leader, you will be managing a team of Engineers and coordinating the design and deployment of management network components

  • Managing a team of Engineers and providing mentorship through ongoing performance management.

  • Maintaining established technical standards, providing accurate forecasting of deployment targets, and monitoring internal metrics.

  • Overseeing the creation of detailed, complex technical installation instructions (I-SPECs) for new and existing technologies.

  • Ensuring all engineering documentation is accurate and up-to-date while overseeing the creation of Shopping carts, Telephone Equipment Orders (TEOs), and Project Supplements.

  • Interfacing with Center Engineering, Field Engineering, Operations, Project Managers, and other Implementation organizations to ensure early identification of issues.

  • Negotiating and coordinating overall project schedules for Engineering activities, Construction start dates, and completion dates while maintaining relationships with service vendors.

  • Managing multiple Capacity Creation Requests for new hardware deployments, reconfigurations, First Office Application (FOA) projects, and decommissioning activities.

What we’re looking for...

You are self-driven with experience in design and implementation of complex and distributed systems. You have a passion for seeking engineering excellence and adopting new technologies. You are not afraid to drive for success by working with multi-functional teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience.

  • Experience communicating with and managing multiple stakeholders, while also delivering on own projects.

  • Experience communicating complex technical ideas in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience solving complex issues.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Previous leadership experience in an engineering role.

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technical domains:

    • SONET, DWDM and Long Haul Transport Systems.

    • Backbone Routing and Switching systems.

    • Physical Server Deployments.

    • Voice Switching platforms.

  • Telecom Installation Experience—hands-on or remotely directed.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
