Role Highlights

The opportunity

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will provide high‑quality actuarial insights that support business performance, profitability, and decision‑making. About QBE

  • At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.
  • We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.
  • What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role

As part of Group Actuarial, you’ll sit at the centre of QBE’s global actuarial function, working across regions (Australia, North America, Europe, and other international markets), portfolios and disciplines to bring a global perspective to key decisions.   Your work will span across reserving, reinsurance, catastrophe analysis, management and regulatory reporting, and requires regular interaction with senior stakeholders across the Group.  This is a unique role where you’ll gain exposure to global products and actuarial concepts, which is only possible in a global organisation such as QBE.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver actuarial analysis to support reserving, financial reporting, and portfolio performance
  • Development of financial projection models that will form an integral part of QBE’s balance sheet and capital management
  • Contribute to catastrophe reporting and analysis, including monitoring exposure to major events and assessing impact of QBE’s complex reinsurance structure
  • Monitor and enhance Actuarial Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), identifying trends and signalling risks and opportunities to reserve adequacy
  • Support production of quarterly and annual regulatory returns (APRA / LAGIC) and management reporting submissions
  • Implement global actuarial strategic initiatives
  • Automate analytical processes to scale and accelerate insight provision
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across underwriting, finance, reserving and capital teams, across each of QBE’s regions.

Key requirements:

  • Prior experience in an actuarial or analytics role, working with data and applying actuarial techniques / models
