About the role

As a Business Development & Origination Analyst, you will support Yuso's commercial expansion across Europe, with a particular focus on quantitative analysis, pricing, and hedging structures. You will work at the intersection of energy market intelligence and commercial origination, helping the team build compelling, data-driven propositions for Renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) optimization contracts.

You will report to the Head of Business Development & Origination and benefit from close coaching by our Head of Quants. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a quantitatively minded graduate who wants to build a career at the heart of the energy transition — we have a strong track record of hiring talented people straight from university and developing them into leading professionals in the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain pricing models for renewable PPAs and BESS optimization contracts, including revenue projections and sensitivity analyses.
  • Design and analyse hedging structures to support commercial negotiations with project developers, investors, and corporates.
  • Conduct quantitative market research, including analysis of energy price trends, regulatory developments, grid dynamics, and competitive positioning.
  • Compile and interpret market intelligence to support origination efforts and internal strategy discussions.
  • Support the preparation of commercial offers and business cases, translating analytical output into clear, client-ready materials.
  • Work closely with trading, analytics, and legal teams to ensure models and proposals reflect current market realities.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal tools and data infrastructure supporting the commercial team.
  • Assist in presenting Yuso's solutions to prospects, investors, and partners.
  • Report on pipeline activity, market dynamics, and analytical findings to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Energy/Environmental Policy, Power Systems Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • And/or 1–3 years of relevant experience with demonstrable knowledge of competitive energy markets, power systems, renewable energy, and/or environmental policy.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Word.
  • Basic programming skills required; experience with Python, MATLAB, SQL, statistical packages, or economic modelling tools is a strong plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Strong research skills: ability to formulate insightful questions, source market intelligence, and synthesise complex data into clear conclusions.
  • Capacity to develop and deepen expertise across the economic, environmental, regulatory, and technical dimensions of the energy industry.

Other Requirements

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills — comfortable working with large datasets, financial models, and market information.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and ability to write clearly and persuasively on complex topics.
  • Commercial mindset: ability to translate analytical insights into compelling value propositions for clients.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and proactive — able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Willingness and flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours to meet client deadlines, within a firm committed to a healthy work/life balance.

Our Offer

You will join a team of dynamic and passionate professionals at the forefront of the European energy transition. This role offers significant scope for growth, with direct exposure to senior leadership, real commercial transactions, and a broad network of energy market participants.

  • Flexible working: remote work and/or from Yuso's offices in Waregem (Belgium), with access to a best-in-class energy market working environment.
  • Competitive remuneration package including health and group insurance, meal vouchers, IT equipment for remote work, home-office compensation, and a mobile plan.
  • Variable component linked to personal and team performance.
  • Close mentorship from both the Head of Business Development & Origination and the Head of Quants.
  • A culture that genuinely invests in people: we have a strong track record of training graduates into senior energy market professionals.
