Job Description

As the Executive Director, Procurement Center of Excellence, at Gilead you will lead the design, scaling, and governance of enterprise-wide procurement capabilities that enable value creation, operational excellence, and sustainable outcomes across a global organization.

What you will do
1) Enterprise Procurement Strategy & Governance
Define and lead the global Procurement COE strategy aligned to enterprise transformation priorities
Establish and govern policies, standards, and frameworks across the Source-to-Settle lifecycle
Drive consistency, compliance, and best-in-class practices across regions, categories, and functions
2) Digital Procurement & Technology Enablement
Own the business strategy for the end-to-end procurement technology ecosystem
Partner with IT, Finance, and Legal to implement and evolve source-to-pay, contracting, supplier management, and analytics platforms
Drive innovation through automation, AI-enabled sourcing, and digital transformation initiatives
3) Data, Analytics & Business Insights
Lead a centralized procurement analytics capability delivering insights on spend, savings, risk, and supplier performance
Define enterprise data models, KPIs, and reporting standards aligned with financial and strategic outcomes
Enable self-service analytics and advanced insights for procurement and business leadership
4) Supplier Strategy & ESG Integration
Drive procurement-led ESG strategies including supplier sustainability, inclusion, and regulatory compliance
Embed ESG requirements into sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance processes
Ensure transparency, data integrity, and reporting for ESG commitments
5) Capability Building & Organizational Leadership
Build and scale a global procurement capability framework across functional, digital, and leadership domains
Lead leadership development, onboarding, and continuous learning programs
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
Develop and mentor senior procurement leaders while influencing across a highly matrixed environment
What success looks like (first 6–12 months)
Clear, aligned global procurement COE strategy and governance model in place
Measurable improvements in procurement consistency, analytics, and decision-making
Progress on digital procurement roadmap including automation and AI initiatives
Enhanced supplier programs with embedded ESG standards
Strengthened leadership bench and capability development across the organization
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 16+ years of relevant professional experience
ORMaster’s Degree and 14+ years of relevant professional experience
ORPhD and 14+ years of relevant professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
16+ years of experience leading global procurement teams and senior leaders
Proven experience driving large-scale procurement transformation initiatives
Deep expertise in source-to-pay processes, procurement systems, and digital enablement
Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders across Finance, IT, Legal, and business leadership
Experience implementing advanced analytics, automation, or AI in procurement environments
Demonstrated success operating in complex, global, matrixed organizations
Experience embedding ESG principles into supplier and procurement strategies
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence without authority
