Come join Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Roger Hospice Care Center where you can make a difference in the community every day. At this facility, our caregivers help prepare patients and their families physically, emotionally and spiritually prepare for the end of life. Here, you will work alongside compassionate physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff to offer patients support and comfort as they adjust to the hospice environment.
As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure efficient operational flow of the department, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 3:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm. Rotating weekends are 11:00am to 7:30pm and will be accommodate by having either Tuesday or Thursday off the week.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
- Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
- Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
- Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
- Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience in a customer service-related role
- Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- College degree
- Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
- Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
