Job Description

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

12

The Role: AI/ML CMDB Solution Architect

The Team:

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI/ML CMDB Lead Architect to join our CMDB team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing current gaps in our Configuration Management Database (CMDB), designing a modern and scalable architecture, and guiding the team on best practices to make CMDB data ready for the next generation of enterprise AI and agentic solutions. You will play a pivotal role in evolving our CMDB from a ServiceNow-centric model to an intelligent, data-driven ecosystem leveraging Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, knowledge graphs, and predictive intelligence.

The Impact:

The AI/ML CMDB Lead Architect will be instrumental in transforming how our organization understands, manages, and leverages its technology assets. By modernizing the CMDB and making inventory data AI-ready, this role will directly improve operational decision-making, reduce IT risk, and unlock intelligent automation across the enterprise. The work will have downstream impact on our customers by ensuring our organization operates on reliable, high-integrity data — enabling faster incident resolution, better change management, and a stronger foundation for enterprise-grade AI solutions.

What’s in it for you:

  • Strong learning and growth opportunities: This role offers strong learning opportunities through close collaboration with experienced professionals, along with hands-on exposure to building AI-powered data products.

  • Own a high-impact, enterprise-wide initiative: Take on the challenge of modernizing a CMDB that underpins the entire organization’s IT operations — a role with visibility across technology leadership and business stakeholders.

  • Work at the intersection of data engineering and AI: Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, knowledge graphs, and predictive intelligence in a live enterprise environment.

  • Shape the future of AI-ready data architecture: Directly influence how the organization prepares its data for next-generation agentic AI systems, positioning yourself as a key voice in enterprise AI strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current CMDB architecture, identify data gaps, and define a roadmap to a modern, AI-ready CMDB ecosystem.

  • Design and implement a target-state architecture that integrates ServiceNow with Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, enabling gold-tier datasets to flow into the CMDB from diverse source systems.

  • Modernize CI lifecycle management, reconciliation, and data quality processes through automated, AI-assisted, and data-driven workflows.

  • Develop and maintain ServiceNow modules supporting ITSM and CMDB governance, including workflow automation, business rules, and module configuration.

  • Reduce dependencies on IT teams by creating data-driven solutions to automate relationship mapping, dependency integrity, and reconciliation.

  • Introduce AI/ML capabilities such as knowledge graphs and predictive intelligence to surface relationships between assets and proactively identify dependencies.

  • Design and oversee CMDB audits, KPI dashboards, and continuous improvement processes to maintain data quality and integrity.

  • Leverage Azure cloud services and Databricks for scalable data ingestion, transformation, and processing.

  • Implement automated job scheduling and observability with self-healing AIOps capabilities.

  • Serve as the technical lead and mentor for the CMDB team, establishing best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.

  • Ultimately accountable for the Quality and Integrity of the CMDB.

  • Manage a team of passionate CMDB data engineers.

What We’re Looking For:

Key qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10 years in data engineering and or CMDB management and architecture.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • CMDB Expertise: Deep understanding of CMDB concepts including CI lifecycle management, data model governance, relationship mapping, reconciliation, audits, and KPI dashboards.

  • ServiceNow Development: Hands-on experience with workflow automation, business rules, module configuration, discovery, and integration with enterprise systems.

  • Data Engineering: Strong skills in ETL/ELT pipeline design, Python for data transformation, Databricks for scalable processing, and Microsoft Fabric for data lakehouse architectures and data distribution.
