Role Overview
Abbott's Digital Technology Services (DTS) group is seeking a Director of Technical Product Management to establish and lead a new Technical Product Management function within Engineering & Architecture team.
This is a founding leadership role responsible for driving strategic technology delivery, defining the TPM operating model, and building a global team that raises the standard for product execution across DTS. The ideal candidate combines product leadership, technical depth, and organizational influence to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Strategic Product Delivery
- Own product strategy and execution across platform, developer experience, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex technology products and capabilities.
- Identify technical and business risks, drive trade-off decisions, and ensure successful outcomes.
- Champion AI-enabled approaches to product development and delivery.
Define the TPM Practice
- Create and evolve product management frameworks, standards, and operating processes.
- Establish intake, prioritization, roadmap governance, and portfolio management practices.
- Develop metrics and reporting that provide visibility into product performance and delivery effectiveness.
Build and Lead the TPM Organization
- Establish and scale a global Technical Product Management team across global delivery centers.
- Define team structure, career paths, performance expectations, and development plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and customer focus.
Champion the Customer
- Serve as the voice of the customer, ensuring product decisions are grounded in user needs and business value.
- Translate complex business challenges into actionable product strategies and roadmaps.
- Drive adoption, satisfaction, and measurable outcomes for internal and external customers.
Set the Standard for Product Excellence
- Establish high standards for product management, execution, communication, and operational excellence.
- Continuously improve team effectiveness, delivery quality, and customer outcomes.
- Influence leaders across engineering, architecture, and business functions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, Product Management, or related technology leadership roles.
- Experience leading complex technology products and platforms at enterprise scale.
- Experience building or transforming product management functions, teams, or capabilities.
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage deeply with engineering and architecture teams.
- Experience establishing product governance, prioritization frameworks, and portfolio management processes.
- Practical experience applying AI/ML tools to improve product discovery, delivery, engineering productivity, or decision-making.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive influence skills.
Preferred
- Software engineering or technical architecture background.
- Experience leading globally distributed teams.
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, life sciences, or financial services.
- Experience building platform products and developer-facing capabilities.

The base pay for this position is
$149,300.00 – $298,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
