Job purpose

The Materials Planner is responsible for planning and executing the purchasing needs, in detail and with data, of a specific group of suppliers.

Location

Viana do Castelo plant, Portugal

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Act as a contact between the supplier and BorgWarner regarding the order delivery schedule. Coordinate follow-up activities to ensure a high level of service.

  • Establish contact with the supplier to exchange information on order status, deadlines, and delivery performance. In case of risk of delivery failure, take a proactive approach to finding solutions that help avoid or minimize the impact on the production plan.

  • Inform and react in a timely manner if the production plan is at risk.

  • Verify/adjust material plans to plan material orders and purchases.

  • Organize material and inventory flows to achieve production objectives and work on process objectives.

  • Control inventory/optimize within the area of ​​responsibility.

  • Define and control the safety stock level for the materials assigned to your responsibility.

  • Control the consumption and demand levels of the materials assigned to your responsibility.

  • The scope of the position is defined by basic problem-solving and assigned projects.

  • Respect the safety and cleanliness rules of the workplace

  • Comply with safety standards, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental protection

  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations such as Ethics Code

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • 12th grade in a related field; Bachelor's degree (valued)

  • 3-5 years of experience in a logistics-related field

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of SAP software (preferred)

  • Presentation, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Fluent in English
