About the role

About the Company

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.

A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.

Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

Meet the Team

The Autonomous Driving Kit Component Enablement & Calibration (ADKit CE&C) team plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of perception systems across our autonomous vehicle platform.

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer who is enthusiastic about thriving in a hands-on environment and ready to grow with the team and leading our way toward productization.

We research and design scalable solutions to calibrate and configure the ADKit components to their peak operational state. We configure and operate multi-modal sensor systems including cameras, LIDARs, RADARs and IMUs, integrate sensors with andHigh-Performance Cluster computers, and deploy our solutions to hardware-in-the-loop systems and on-truck. Our contribution directly supports the safety, performance, and robustness of autonomous driving capabilities.

We design adaptability into our software to support the wide range of ADKit sensors, and the base hardware configuration needed to keep our truck generation operational on the path to productization.

Your role will make a significant impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight.

What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer on ADKit CE&C, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, debugging, and delivering software tools and analysis allowing driver development and validation of all Autonomous Drive Kit (ADKit) components. This role involves hands-on work with multiple cross function groups and technologies.

  • Develop in collaboration with component lead and supplier of our full ADKit component including ADAS sensors and embedded systems.
  • Enabling ADAS component prototypes allowing upstream development, testing and integration for the next ADKit generation system.
  • Collaborate with automotive Tier-1 suppliers enabling efficient project execution by removing technical blockers as the project progresses through its maturity roadmap.
  • Ensure the quality of component deliveries by designing and implementing robust and scalable software solutions to validate component requirements. This includes lab-based testing and real-world field trials to verify product functionality and ensure automotive-grade performance.
  • Exploring the deep functionality of every component’s low-level configuration potential to deliver it to its peak operational state for our AI data needs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports related to the above.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, software engineering, robotics, or a related field with 4+ years of experience (or a master's degree with 0–3+ years of experience).
  • Strong software architectural mindset with the ability to document and present scalable design, modular system, algorithms and define clear interface across complex robotics distributed software components.
  • Strong software engineering skills in C++ (C++14 or newer) with a focus on clean, maintainable and production-ready code for deployment in a high-performance embedded computing cluster.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR concepts applied to ADAS systems, including application and service configuration, service‑oriented communication modeling, basic PDU configuration, and port/interface setup. Exposure to service interface concepts such as methods, replies, and events in the context of ADAS software components.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR Classic system and software development: E/E modelling and ARXML authoring, AUTOSAR basic software configuration, software component integration, and simulation/test tooling.
  • Familiarity with embedded diagnostics protocols such as SOVD and UDS, with the ability to design and implement interfaces between system diagnostic tools and mission management platforms, supporting telemetry, remote assistance, and end-to-end diagnostic use cases.
  • Proficiency in Linux development, version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and build systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive cross-team technical alignment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in component laboratories and truck garage environments, travel occasionally, and collaborate effectively across teams in distinct geographies and time zones.

Bonus Points!

  • Experience developing safety critical software and systems following industry standards and regulations(ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ISO 21434, ASPICE, autonomous vehicles).
  • Experience with CAN, Automotive Ethernet, GMSL2, and A2B protocols, especially transceiver configuration and low-level development.
  • Experience with Vector and AUTOSAR tools ( PREEVision, DaVinci Configurator/Developer, CANoe, CANdela)
  • Enjoy a little crafty 3D printing project.&a
