Boston Dynamics is seeking a CNC Programmer/Operator Machinist to join our growing organization. Every day, you will help to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine independently; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Additionally, you will maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations while keeping your workplace neat, clean and organized. To thrive in this role, you must be able to follow written and oral instructions, be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

How you will make an impact:
● Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
● Checks stock inventory of materials and tools to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock.
● Programs mill/turn machines and lathes using CAD/CAM software; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
● Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets; indicating vices.
● Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
● Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
● Maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
● Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
● Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

● Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

You bring:
● Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred in set-up of CNC lathes and CNC vertical milling machines.
● Some 5-axis or multi axis lathe experience.
● Experience with reading and editing G code will be expected.
● Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges and indicators.
● Strong understanding in blueprint reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation.
● Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
● Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to arithmetic, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
● Previous experience with CNC programming.


Nice to Have Skills:
● Solidworks, Catia, Esprit, Hypermill or Cimatron software experience a plus.
● Knowledge of spur gear manufacturing methods.
● Experience with Gleason gear shaping equipment.
● Experience with GF wire & sinker EDM machines.


We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.

The pay range for this position is between $35.00 to $42.00 per hour. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure.
