Are you looking to join a trusted brand that offers career growth and long-term stability? Berlin City Auto Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a dynamic, multi-state automotive retail organization.
Position Overview:
Berlin City Auto Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a multi-state organization with over 500 employees. This role is ideal for a hands-on payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the complexities of commission-based pay, technician flat-rate compensation, and benefits deductions. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while partnering with HR and Accounting to maintain compliance and improve processes. The hours for this position are 9:00 to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
Compensation: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
What You’ll Do:
- Process payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Calculate and process commissions, bonuses, and technician flat-rate pay
- Maintain payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and taxes
- Review and audit payroll data, including timecards, pay rates, and deductions
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and support general ledger entries in partnership with Accounting
- Collaborate with HR and department leaders to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Support payroll reporting and assist with internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, including overtime and multi-state requirements
- Provide support and guidance to managers on timekeeping and payroll processes
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state environment
- Experience processing payroll for mid-to-large organizations (300+ employees preferred)
- Strong understanding of commission-based and/or hourly payroll structures (automotive experience a plus)
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Working knowledge of payroll accounting, including reconciliations and reporting
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paylocity, ADP, or similar platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data validation)
- Knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws
