RF Applications Engineer

About the Role

Analog Devices is seeking an RF Applications Engineer based in Limerick, Ireland, who will support the development of our latest RF product ICs and the software tools used to evaluate and configure them. This role combines traditional RF applications engineering with software development activities such as Python scripting, automation, and evaluation‑software creation.

The RF product portfolio includes Phase Locked Loops (PLL), Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCO), integrated PLL/VCOs, JESD204 and Network Clock ICs, frequency multipliers, Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDS), and frequency dividers used across a wide range of markets and applications.

The Applications Engineer will perform a range of tasks across the product life cycle, including product definition, new product development, documentation, and customer support.

Key Responsibilities

As an Applications Engineer, you will:

  • Become an RF product expert that will interface with customers and field applications to solve challenging customer design problems.
  • Provide timely responses to customer and FAE questions.
  • Develop Python‑based automation scripts to support lab measurements, data capture, and evaluation workflows.
  • Contribute to evaluation software used to configure and characterize RF products, including GUIs and device drivers.
  • Perform hands‑on evaluation of RF ICs using test instruments such as spectrum analyzers, phase‑noise analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Develop datasheets, user guides, evaluation boards, and application notes, including related software collateral where applicable.
  • Work with other internal product teams to understand and develop complete signal‑chain solutions.
  • Provide input to new product definitions based on customer applications and system‑level understanding.

Requirements

  •  B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience.
  • Hands‑on programming experience in Python and at least one of: C, C++, or C#.
  • Hands‑on experience with silicon evaluation.
  • Experience with RF test instruments such as spectrum analyzers, phase‑noise analyzers, and VNAs.
  • Some knowledge of programmable logic (FPGA) or SoC development is a plus.
  • Excellent presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
