About the role
TSC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Communications Systems Engineer to support our customer in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with a strong background in communications equipment, RF technology and electronics. This role involves full-lifecycle engineering, from design and development to testing, troubleshooting, integration, and maintenance of advanced communication systems.
You will have the opportunity to work with advanced equipment, tools and technologies to support both legacy and new communications systems across many areas of support, to include the following:
- System Design & Development; design and develop robust and reliable electronics and communications systems, analyze system requirements and translate them into design specifications, Create and maintain detailed documentation for all stages of the design process.
- Testing & Troubleshooting; develop and execute comprehensive test plans for RF and communication systems, Identify, troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues in a timely manner, often in urgent and high-priority scenarios, perform root cause analysis of failures and implement corrective actions.
- Integration & Maintenance; integrate new systems and components into existing infrastructure, perform routine maintenance and upgrades on communications equipment and antenna systems.
- Customer & Team Interaction; work closely with a small and highly effective team to support various customers in understanding their needs to provide technical support and meet their requirements, collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure project success, communicate project status and technical information effectively to peers & leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent military experience and 10+ years of proven experience with RF and communications systems.
- US Citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience with full-lifecycle engineering (design, testing, troubleshooting, integration, maintenance).
- Experience with technical requirements, documentation and design analysis.
- Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively with customers and peers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-stress, high-speed environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong understanding of electrical tools and equipment (crimpers, dies, multimeter, presses, connectors, contacts, wire gauges/types, soldering, etc.)
- Experience working hands-on with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and other RF test equipment.
- Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.
