This position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager__
Industrialization Engineer
As an Industrialization Engineer, your primary mission is to plan and define accurate Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs), and corresponding production rules that enable efficient, scalable, and cost‑effective volume production. You will play a key role in structuring the product for production, thereby directly structuring product costs and laying the foundations for serial production based on the manufacturing strategy. Your vital work will be put to the test and verified through trial builds and first time builds of the product.
Key Objectives
Define and maintain complete and accurate MBOMs
Establish and maintain robust production rules supporting variant and volume production
Define and support the product cost structure
Ensure planned volume production capability through high-quality industrial data
Main Responsibilities
Make-or-by strategy: Plan, define, and maintain MBOMs in alignment with product design and manufacturing strategy.
Create, update, and validate production rules using VarLogic
Perform variant modeling to support configurable products and multiple product variants
Act as a key interface between PLM and ERP systems, ensuring data consistency and correctness in accordance with make-or-by strategy (MBOM)
Support industrialization activities across product development phases
Accountable for Zero Series (first time build in production), ensuring readiness for serial production
Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Product Development Engineers, Supply Chain, Quality and Controlling and ensure seamless handover to production
Success Criteria
Success in this role will be measured by:
MBOM completeness and accuracy
Products achieved with planned volume production capability, on estimated time and within cost targets
Qualifications
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field – relevant experience can compensate.
Experience with MBOM planning and industrialization in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of production rules, product variants, and configuration logic
Hands-on experience using SAP Variant Configurator, PLM or ERP systems
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and data quality
