The Global Network Delivery organization is seeking a highly motivated Network Projects Planner to join our Planning team. This role focuses on scoping and planning predominantly new room capacity (Room 1) and expansion (Room 2+) projects across multiple data center locations. The ideal candidate will comfortably and confidently, work independently with partner teams to deliver physical network infrastructure with minimal supervision, driving stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks.

The Network Deployment ‘Planner’ will work closely with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity to the local data center installation & deployment technicians to facilitate smooth capacity execution.

The ideal candidate will possess a technology background that enables them to understand the complexities of the sophisticated network architecture of Amazon data centers. To be a qualified candidate you must be highly autonomous, detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience in managing network deployment projects. They will be competent in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure and fiber solutions.

This position will provide the individual with high levels of autonomous work with minimal supervision to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous, collaborative environment is essential for success.

In addition, this role may require international travels of up to 30%.

Key job responsibilities
Risk Management & Proactive Planning
• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, removing hurdles during the planning stage before they impact on-site delivery
• Develop contingency plans for complex network deployment scenarios proactively engaging with partner teams
• Anticipate potential blockers and work cross-functionally to resolve ambiguous challenges before they escalate
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurring issues
• Anticipate and assess cabling impact, due to a new process or new technology being rolled out, ahead in the planning cycle.

Project Management & Execution
• Lead end-to-end planning for Room 1 and Room 2+ network infrastructure builds
• Create detailed network rack splits and position plans for placement of network racks on data center floors. Draw up position plans showcasing network rack placements.
• Coordinate design reviews, project timelines/schedules, and construction milestones highlighting network and larger project level risks.
• Manage core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, quality, risk, and critical path management
• Ensure adherence to timelines and deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions with continuous improvement focus.
• Capture local site critical nuances working with GND Deployment teams when planning for remote sites.
• Ability to successfully context switch between multiple high-priority concurrent projects

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Work independently with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity
• Build strong relationships to collaborate and unblock project challenges across organizational boundaries
• Manage vendor and supplier conversations to ensure prompt delivery and prevent project delays due to materials
• Partner with deployment technicians to facilitate smooth capacity execution
• Engage with regional leadership teams to align on strategic priorities and delivery commitments
