A role in Owned Brand Buying offers the opportunity to define a growth strategy for our exceptional food Owned Brands, including Good & Gather and Favorite Day. Through cross-functional collaboration and data and insight-mining, you will be the expert on the guest, the market and the competition. You’ll be the point person to lead a cross functional team of food experts to deliver value to our guests and advance the strategic and financial objectives of our business. Here, you’ll own a broad product portfolio and the end-to-end owned brand pyramid-level strategic initiatives so that your work is varied and challenging.
As a Senior Buyer, Owned Brand Merchandising you’ll drive the Owned Brand assortment strategy for multiple categories (within one division). This includes setting the strategy, aligning on the product pipeline and roadmap and developing the assortment strategy. This work requires a deep understanding of the guest, market place and trend data. With responsibility for multi-category scope leadership, you’ll orchestrate work across a wide variety of functions and shape the priorities for the cross functional team. You’ll lead prioritization decisions across product development, sourcing and marketing to achieve the long range plan for owned brands. As the owner of your owned brand categories you’ll also provide key packaging inputs to initiate the creative process based on a thorough competitive assessment and desired messaging hierarchy and navigational needs. Your flexibility in reacting to project hurdles and your ability to translate financial metrics and data into actionable strategies will be critical.

About you:
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of Merchandising or Brand Management and Profit and Loss experience
- Strong strategic and analytical skills to grow a business
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional team
- Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “gray areas” that are constantly changing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence a team
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
