We are seeking a skilled Hands-on Senior Digital Architect (Oracle CPQ Integration Solution Architect/Implementation Developer) to join our Applications Development & Intelligence Automation -CAT IT Division Chennai Team.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Caterpillar WTC Centre Chennai-India

What you will do

Solar Turbines is seeking a senior, hands‑on Technical Architect/Implementation Developer with a proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise‑scale software solutions, including deep expertise in Oracle CPQ, enterprise integrations, and large‑scale implementations. This role combines scalable architecture with direct, hands‑on implementation ownership to drive measurable business impact.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, a doer, and a team player who thrives in dynamic environments, works well across cross-functional teams, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, business-critical technology solutions.

  • Partner with Oracle CPQ Architects and cross‑functional business stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Overhaul, etc.) to understand requirements, assess process impacts, and deliver actionable, business‑ready solutions.

  • Understand the use cases/User Story, conduct code analysis, design and implement scalable and sustainable Oracle CPQ solutions.
  • Design and implement CPQ customizations, including scripts, BLM, configuration and commerce rules, Document Designer, and Document Engine logic.

  • Proactively manage Oracle CPQ, Java and Java EE application development 
  • Implement REST/SOAP APIs, BMQL, and other custom web services.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to architectural standards and meet quality, security, scalability, performance, and sustainability requirements.

  • Provide technical governance through code reviews, solution validation, and best‑practice enforcement throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation; develop and execute unit tests in accordance with team standards.

  • Contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including estimation, planning, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Maintain strict adherence to coding standards; perform self and peer code reviews prior to code check‑in and manage branch merges as required.

  • Perform Oracle CPQ upgrades and support release deployments.

  • Publish release documentation, support application deployments, and provide regular status updates during onshore stand‑ups.

  • Provide accurate effort estimates, actively engage in story refinement, and support production issues as needed with flexibility and a team‑first mindset.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve CPQ configuration and java integration issues.

What you will have 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM-related degree.

  • 10 years of enterprise integration architecture experience with familiarity with different design and architectural patterns 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle CPQ Enterprise solution development, CPQ Site management, Admin (Configuration, Commerce, Document Designer, Document Engine, Data Tables (CDT), rules, BML, BMQL, JET UI, REST API Services) experience

  • 8+ years of JAVA (JDBC, Maven, Spring Framework, Eclipse, Tomcat) application development, testing and implementation

  • 8+ years of demonstrated Web & Front-End development (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and CSS) experience.

  • 8+ years of hands-on Web services (SOAP and REST), BML, Apache ASP, and custom API development experience

  • 8+ years of Oracle Database (SQL, procedures, functions, triggers) and Data conversion/Data ETL experience.

  • 8+ years hands-on experience in data modelling, schema creation, and databases (MySQL, Oracle (PL/SQL BMQL), MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MS Access, MongoDB

  • 8+ Hands-on experience in Enterprise programming (Python, Java, .Net, C#)

  • 3+ years of experience with document creation using XML and XSL-FO

  • 6+ years with release management and change management experience.

  • Strong sense of urgency and accountability to drive outcomes, including responding to production related outages and issues

  • Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Patterns and Concepts 
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 yrs. project implementation experience using various software development lifecycles (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • solid presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to interact with the various levels of management.
  • 8 yrs. experience with production support, incident/issue troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • 8 years of technical solutioning.
  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependence.
  • Proven track record of delivering within deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Work Timings: 01:00 Noon -10:00PM IST
  • This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).

• Researches the benefits and drawbacks of an organization's application software.
• Drafts application software usage for the department's needs.
