Lead Software Engineer (Python/AI)

Role Responsibilities -

As a Lead AI/Automation Specialist, you will combine deep technical expertise with critical thinking to identify transformative opportunities, architect and build robust solutions, and shepherd them through to production.

You will partner closely with senior engineers, architects, business analysts, product leaders, and customers across Nasdaq to deliver measurable improvements in how we develop, test, and deliver our regulatory reporting platform.

Besides working closely with your colleagues in Pune, you will also work closely with Nasdaq teams in other countries.

Lead AI Innovation – Identify, evaluate, and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to enhance product development, testing, delivery, and operational processes within the AxiomSL platform, aligned with Nasdaq's broader technology strategy.

Productionizing automation at Scale – Design, develop, and deploy production-grade automation pipelines, frameworks, and tools that drive efficiency, quality, and speed across the software delivery lifecycle.

Architect End-to-End Solutions – Define and own the technical architecture for AI and automation capabilities, ensuring scalability, resilience, maintainability, and alignment with the AxiomSL platform and Nasdaq's enterprise architecture standards.

Hands-On Development – Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code (primarily in Python) to build AI models, automation frameworks, integrations, and production tooling.

Champion Testing & Quality – Develop and implement automated testing strategies and frameworks; ensure all AI and automation solutions meet rigorous production-readiness and quality assurance standards.

Cross-Domain Problem Solving – Rapidly contextualise and operate across diverse regulatory, data, and business domains to tailor AI and automation solutions that deliver real business value.

Strategic Teamwork – Partner with development, QA, product management, and business teams across Nasdaq and AxiomSL to translate complex requirements into actionable, high-impact technical solutions.

Drive Continuous Improvement – Stay at the cutting edge of emerging AI/ML technologies, tools, and standard processes; champion a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Mentorship & Capability Uplift – Act as a senior technical leader, sharing AI and automation expertise across the wider team and contributing to the professional development of colleagues.

Stakeholder Communication – Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical customers, including senior leadership.

We expect you to have:

• 7-10 years of hands-on, dynamic experience in software develop, architecture, development, testing, and productization of enterprise-grade solutions
• Strong Python/Coding Proficiency and additional experience with other languages (e.g., Java, SQL, Bash) is a strong advantage.
• Meaningful experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML models or intelligent automation solutions
• Proven track record of building production-grade automation pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and developer tooling at scale
• Proven ability to quickly learn, contextualise, and deliver within new and multifaceted problem domains
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to independently drive initiatives, manage competing priorities, and deliver results with minimal direction while mentoring others
• Education Required:  At least Masters’ Degree or double degree qualified in a discipline related to Computer Science and our industry; or equivalent work experience. 

It would be great if you-

​Experience with regulatory reporting platforms, risk data aggregation, data lineage, or direct experience with the AxiomSL/Nasdaq product suite
