[What you will be working on]  

Join us in modernising the technology that supports Singapore's democratic processes! As a Senior Software Engineer at Elections Department (ELD), you will play the role of a technical lead in one of our squads and work on products that directly support Singaporeans to participate in elections. You'll be modernising and enhancing critical electoral systems that ensure secure, efficient, and transparent elections for our nation.

Your responsibilities will include:  

• Taking an active role in team delivery of product and engineering goals. 
• Delivering high-quality, maintainable, and reusable software systems. 
• Making technical contributions, and mentoring and guiding junior software engineers by coaching and mentoring through engineering best practices. 
• Collaborating with Product Manager towards achievement of high-priority initiatives (to maximize our impact on the public good) 
• Establishing practices and tools to encourage a strong engineering culture and maximize engineering effectiveness and impact. 
• Strengthening how the team builds software through solution design works, constructive code/design reviews and enhancing quality, reliability, security and DevOps practices 
• Proactively identify and manage cross-team technical dependencies, coordinating with other engineering teams and stakeholders toto accelerate product outcomes. 
• Proactively refactor/reduce technical debt for long term maintainability. 
• Contributing to create a long-term technical plan and roadmap for the assigned squads, and for other squads as needed. Updating the roadmap regularly to meet future product/business needs and infrastructure requirements.

• Experience working on reasonably large, high-availability software systems that have operated at scale.
