340B Purchasing Analyst | Buyer Position Summary:

Performs daily activities for compliant purchasing of pharmaceuticals. Supports department leadership and staff in maintaining appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical products and related supply items. Understands and supports daily functions of the pharmacy related to medication receiving, storage, inventory management, dispensing and disposal. Supports compliance with 340B program requirements.

This position will assist the 340B Program Coordinator in achieving desired outcomes in the following areas: (1) drug product selection/procurement, (2) 340B Program compliance, monthly reporting, dispensing patterns, (3) inventory control and billing processes, (4) maintaining of 340B software systems. As a member of the 340B Pharmacy team, the Purchasing Analyst collaborates with the team to plan, organize and operate the department to achieve unit and organizational goals, meet customer needs and assure high quality services, products and compliance.

What you will do:

  • Supports department leadership in maintaining appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical products and related supply items.
  • Performs all pharmacy wholesaler system functions and processes for ordering, backorder processing, receiving and returning products.
  • Ensures timely processing and compliance with procedures for invoices, requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Places orders for controlled substances using Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS) and manual ordering processes.
  • Works in compliance with 340B program requirements. Follows processes for order splitting. Assists in troubleshooting program issues and supporting audits. Reviews accumulators and participates in program maintenance.
  • Serves as a departmental expert on the processes related to medication receiving, storage, inventory management, dispensing and disposal. Provides training to other colleagues or learners, as assigned. Supports leadership in maintaining compliant and efficient systems for medication receiving, storage, inventory management, dispensing and disposal.
  • Maintains electronic systems related to medication inventory and barcode scanning.
  • Analyzes data and produces reports to inform purchasing, inventory management, drug shortage management and utilization.
  • Serves as a liaison to suppliers, manufacturers, outside representatives, offsite locations and other organizations. Demonstrates a commitment to providing outstanding customer service in a manner reflective of Trinity Health's mission and values, as well as standards of appearance, attitude, respect, responsiveness, courtesy and follow through.
  • Supports and participates in departmental process improvement.

What you will need:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan.
  • Two years of pharmacy work experience in a similar environment to the scope of purchasing performed in this position. One year of experience at the level of a Technician III.
  • Preferred: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program; or two years of college with emphasis in math, science or medical field applications.
  • Preferred: Active status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
