Job Summary
Supports the organization's Data & AI Governance program by executing the day-to-day lifecycle management of enterprise records. This role sits at the intersection of compliance and data science, utilizing BigID for automated data discovery, classification, and the enforcement of records retention schedules. You will work directly with Legal, Privacy, and Data Owners to proactively managing the defensible disposition of data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute Data Discovery & Classification: Lead the end-to-end operational workflow within BigID to scan, identify, and classify PII and sensitive data assets. Ensure that automated classification tags align with the Enterprise Retention Schedule.
- Retention Schedule Operationalization: Partner with Legal and Risk teams to translate static retention policies into technical "Scan & Action" rules. Monitor data age and volume to trigger alerts for defensible deletion or archival.
- BigID Platform Stewardship: Serve as the functional expert for BigID. Manage data sources, troubleshoot classification false positives, and refine "Data Correlation" logic to improve the accuracy of our global data footprint.
- Collaborate with AI Automation Engineering: Act as the primary stakeholder for the Senior AI Governance Automation Engineer. Provide the business logic and manual validation needed to help them build agentic workflows for records management and AI risk assessments.
- Audit & Compliance Reporting: Produce "Coverage & Compliance" reports for the Data & AI Risk Analyst. Use BigID insights to prove that sensitive data is being managed according to policy and that "dark data" is being minimized.
- Facilitate Records Destruction Workflows: Coordinate with IT and Business Stewards to execute the final stages of the data lifecycle. Ensure that data identified for disposition is removed and that a "Certificate of Destruction" (or digital equivalent) is captured for audit purposes.
Qualifications
- Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Library Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience Required: 3–5 years of experience in Records Management, Information Governance, or Data Privacy.
- Tooling Expertise: Direct experience with BigID is strongly preferred. Experience with similar discovery tools (e.g., OneTrust, Microsoft Purview, or Varonis) is acceptable.
- Technical Skills and Abilities:
- Data Profiling: Ability to use SQL or tool-based filters to analyze large datasets for patterns (e.g., identifying SSNs, account numbers, or stale timestamps).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with data retention requirements under GDPR, CCPA, or industry-specific regulations (e.g., FINRA, HIPAA).
- Detail Orientation: Precision in mapping legal requirements to technical classification tags.
