About the role
Job Purpose:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) acts as the strategic lead and primary interface betweenTech Data, our vendor - Autodesk, and our specialized Public Sector channel partners. You will be responsible for driving business expansion and executing Autodesk’s strategy specifically within government accounts and public institutions. Your goal is to maximize revenue and Net Gross Profit (GP) by navigating complex public procurement cycles and building high-trust relationships with key stakeholders across the supplier and partner ecosystem
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement targeted initiatives to drive Autodesk adoption (BIM, CAD, and industry collections) within government agencies and public infrastructure projects.
Act as the subject matter expert for Autodesk, enabling and motivating channel partners who specialize in the Public Sector to identify and close new opportunities.
Guide partners through the public sector sales cycle, ensuring compliance and competitive positioning.
Manage the end-to-end sales business, including accurate pipeline forecasting, inventory management, and oversight of the credit and AR collection process to ensure healthy financial stewardship.
Deliver top-class consultancy and support to partners, shifting the conversation from simple product fulfillment to comprehensive solution-selling
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience: 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in Business Development or Account Management in the IT industry
Public Sector Expertise: Proven track record of navigating the Public Sector/Government landscape, including a deep understanding of government procurement regulations and long-term sales cycles.
Experience in either Hardware or Software sales is required; specific familiarity with Autodesk products or the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) software industry is a significant advantage.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust-based relationships with both high-level vendor executives and technical line managers
High proficiency in English: both speaking and writing
