Primary Objective
Responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health, Safety functions for the Global multi-site MTS platform. This position has primary responsibility for leading the development and implementation of programs and processes that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements as well as internal and external customer requirements. The position works closely with all MTS personnel in achieving the objective of zero injuries and 100% compliance. The Senior EHS Specialist will act as the safety champion and demonstrate leadership and excellent communication skills. Manufacturing processes in this facility include fabrication, welding, CNC machining, painting, assembly, and testing of electrical & hydraulic equipment.

Major Areas of Accountability

Ownership & Execution of Safety Culture

  • Execute safety culture initiatives across the facility, ensuring consistent presence and preparedness in all required forums.
  • Facilitate and actively participate in new employee onboarding sessions, delivering timely and effective safety orientation.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly standup meetings with relevant, role-driven safety topics aligned with Facilities and Safety Manager expectations.

Safety Culture Communication & Presentation

  • Deliver engaging, interactive safety presentations for onboarding, weekly standups, and site-wide town halls.
  • Translate safety requirements and performance into clear, compelling messaging that drives employee understanding and behavioral adoption.

Safety Committee Leadership & Engagement

  • Actively contribute to and influence the Safety Committee through formal or informal leadership.
  • Drive initiatives, participation, and accountability within the committee to strengthen site-wide safety performance and culture.
  • Lead the response to environmental, health and safety concerns raised by employees and participate in accident/incident investigations.

Permitting Management & Compliance Execution

  • Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of acts/regulations/requirements related to EHS.
  • Interface, as necessary, with government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT to maintain regulatory compliance (audits, annual reports, applications for permits, etc.).
  • Track, manage, and execute all required environmental and safety permits for the facility.
  • Proactively identify permitting risks and implement corrective actions as needed.

Safety Metrics Management

Track, analyze, and report key safety and environmental metrics, including:

  • Medically Treated Injuries (MTIs)
  • Lost Time Accidents (LTAs)
  • Hazardous waste shipments (OSI)
  • Recycling and waste volumes
  • Utility usage

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously improve EHS performance and operations, including safety improvement programs and corrective actions. Define and lead EHS improvement initiatives across the site (ergonomics, industrial hygiene, engineering controls, PPE, etc.).
  • Review all corrective actions related to EHS issues and ensure that actions are fully implemented, effective and sustainable.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to leadership based on data trends.
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as required by business.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field combined with relevant work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in industrial health and safety and 3+ years managing the environmental, health and safety function in a fast-paced, complex large global multi-site manufacturing and field service environment.
  • Proven ability to identify, investigate, correct, and document potential environmental, health, safety non-conformances.
  • Proven ability to provide focus and leadership to achieve effective implementation and maintenance of EHS and security programs.
  • Detailed knowledge of policies, procedures, and programs as they relate to administration, environmental, health, safety, and security efforts.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel globally (up to 20%)
