Job Description
The Specialist, Conferences Strategy is a high-impact role supporting the Conferences Strategy team to continually grow & improve our business. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help shape and guide strategic initiatives, leveraging external research, competitive intelligence, and hands-on analyses to ensure we are the market leader for every role and region we serve. This role offers high visibility and impact by working closely with senior leaders on critical initiatives. About the team:
The Conferences Strategy team is a trusted advisor and strategic partner for the Conferences business. We work across all functions—including sales, marketing, product, and operations—as well as with key stakeholders throughout Gartner. Our mandate is to accelerate growth, solve complex operational challenges, and ensure our portfolio remains at the forefront of the industry.
Growth strategy – Leading the end-to-end conference launch process including roadmap planning, opportunity assessment, financial assessment and facilitating the decision-making process to support our overall growth priorities in close partnership with stakeholders across the business.
Strategic Initiatives - Enabling our growth strategy by problem-solving operational priorities required to scale the business with cross-functional leaders by leveraging our problem solving forums- Strategy Meetings & Key Initiative Meetings.
Innovation & Intelligence- Analyzing competitive insights and market trends to uncover opportunities for innovation and adaptation, ensuring we stay ahead in any environment. By collaborating with leaders across corporate development, product, program, sales, and conferences leadership, we keep the organization informed and aligned on high-impact initiatives to strengthen our portfolio.
What you will do:
External Market Research: Lead key competitive insights projects to assess competitive events & identify areas to optimize & innovate. Collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights and present them to internal teams. Collaborate with leaders across the business to explore & implement key learnings.
Strategic Problem Solving: Support high-priority growth and operational strategy projects. Conduct research, analyze data, and apply strategic frameworks to develop actionable recommendations.
Implementation and Project Management: Assist in executing strategic projects alongside Senior Conferences leaders. Manage timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure project goals are met. Leverage best practices to drive success and deliver measurable outcomes.
Learning and Development: Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills to become a utility player across the business. Embrace a growth mindset and continuously seek feedback to improve and develop your skills and leadership traits.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time to support project implementation and client engagement activities.
What we’re looking for:
Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in a strategy, consulting, or related role.
Problem-solving capability: Proven ability to solve complex problems creatively and use data to tell a compelling story.
Strong research skills: Ability to critically assess competitive assets, leveraging digital tools including AI.
Purposeful communication: Excellent and structured verbal and written communicator with effective presentation and platform skills.
Drive / Self-sufficiency: Demonstrated ability to own a problem and drive from problem statement to solution in a self-sufficient capacity, even in a matrixed environment.
Processing speed: Operates with a sense of urgency and can excel in an execution-focused environment within the dynamic, fast-paced world of live conferences and events.
Executive presence: Ability to effectively engage, lead, and influence senior Gartner executives.
Passion: Intellectually curious with a hunger to proactively and independently identify opportunities to drive impact for the business.
Strong core values: Demonstrates integrity, collaboration, a no-limits mindset, objectivity, and consistent results using global best practices.
Education: Bachelor's degree highly preferred

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 56,000 USD - 78,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
