Job Description
About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Staff Software Engineer, Factory Automation
We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop and deploy control systems for our battery refining and materials production processes. You'll design, implement, and test control algorithms in Python that optimize plant operations, work with modeling engineers to build software-in-the-loop testing environments, and ensure reliable deployment of factory automation solutions. The goal: build robust, scalable control systems that power the world's most efficient battery recycling facilities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Design, implement, and test control algorithms in Python that optimize plant operations
- Tune controllers and collaborate with factory modeling engineers to build SIL tests for offline validation
- Develop deployment infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for control systems, leveraging AWS build pipelines and infrastructure
- Contribute to a custom software module enabling blue-green zero-downtime deployments on Beckhoff PLCs
- Navigate cross-functional engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Apply knowledge of motors, pumps, sensors, actuators, and thermodynamic systems in control algorithm developmentpythongoawsaidataproductdesign
