DESCRIPTION:

The selected candidate will become part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Corporate IT function on the Human Resources Technology Services (HRTS) team supporting Human Capital Management (HCM) Systems, specifically in the functional domain of Compensation. In this role, the individual will plan, design, and implement efficient business and systems solutions in support of global compensation programs, policies, and regulatory requirements.

This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, systems requirements, and system capabilities. The individual will be responsible for working closely with the Compensation COE, HR Business Partners, Finance, internal IT staff, and external consultants. This position has hands-on responsibility for system prototyping, configuration, testing, and support in the functional area of Workday Compensation. The successful candidate will showcase experience in effective project management practices, HR systems module expertise, configuration ownership, and collaboration across global cross-functional teams while delivering cost-effective implementations that exceed stakeholder expectations.

How you will make an impact:

  • Analyze and document business processes within the existing Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) system specific to Compensation.
  • Prototype and review system functionality with customers and identify gaps.
  • Support and configure Workday Compensation to meet business requirements.
  • Configure and support compensation components including compensation plans (base pay, bonus, allowances), grades, grade profiles, salary ranges, and eligibility rules.
  • Configure and support annual merit and bonus review cycles, including budgets, guidelines, and approval workflows.
  • Consult on security role changes within the HCM application in support of the Compensation functional domain.
  • Prepare written documentation including functional specifications, technical documentation, SOPs, testing scripts, and training materials.
  • Provide recommendations for and implement improvements to existing compensation business processes.
  • Develop test procedures, test scenarios, and test cases; execute test scripts; and document and communicate results.
  • Interact and communicate with project team members to ensure successful delivery and implementation of system updates and modifications into production.
  • Assist project teams with processes and procedures related to security accreditation of new or modified applications.
  • Act as key liaison between business users and technical teams to analyze functional requirements and evaluate Workday Compensation functionality to meet business needs.
  • Resolve helpdesk cases related to compensation management, personnel administration, organizational management, and manager/employee self-service.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into clear functional specifications for developers and project teams.
  • Assess impact of change requests and provide work estimates.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

How you will get here:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of Tier 1 Human Capital Management (HCM) system experience, including developing and configuring HR applications such as Compensation Management, Personnel Administration, Organization Management, and related HR capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • In-depth IT experience supporting human resource processes such as employee data management, organizational structure management, and compensation planning.
  • Detailed knowledge of systems development life cycle and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of integration points with external systems such as Payroll and Finance.
  • Knowledge of HCM application security and its interdependencies across system domains.
  • Strong understanding of compensation processes including merit planning, bonus administration, and salary structure governance.
  • Team-oriented individual demonstrating initiative and leadership skills; able to work independently in a dynamic, global environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities with the ability to quickly learn new areas.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both oral and written; able to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed; ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
  • Logical and detail-oriented with the ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Knowledge of Workday HCM system and its Compensation capabilities preferred; candidates with equivalent Tier 1 HCM experience will be considered.
