As an Inbound Logistics Specialist based in Basel, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless and reliable flow of inbound materials across our supply chain. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics service providers, and external warehouses to drive operational excellence, ensure compliance, and continuously improve inbound logistics processes. This role sits at the heart of Arxada’s operations, directly supporting business continuity, customer satisfaction, and our commitment to safety and sustainability.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor and manage all inbound shipments across all transport modes into our Swiss plant, including containers and rail tank cars, on a daily basis, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant material flows.
  • Process, validate, and maintain shipping documents and related logistics information
  • Proactively coordinate with suppliers on shipment status, deviations, discrepancies, and service performance
  • Manage external storage locations, including third‑party warehouses
  • Organize and execute empty container returns in close collaboration with logistics partners
  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs) for rail‑related materials and services, coordinating closely with suppliers
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and periodic inspections (revisions) of rail tank cars to ensure operational readiness
  • Coordinate transport orders for pick‑ups and inbound shipments, including internal and external shuttle railcar movements
  • Handle import‑related customs clearance activities in collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Verify and control invoices (GR/IR – Goods Receipt / Invoice Receipt)
  • Monitor, validate, and follow up on demurrage and detention charges
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all inbound logistics activities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed education or vocational training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
  • Experience in inbound logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operations, ideally in a manufacturing or chemical environment
  • Familiarity with container logistics, rail transport, and customs processes
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Collaborative mindset with clear communication skills and a proactive, solution‑oriented approach
  • Confident working with ERP systems and standard MS Office applications
  • Fluent German is must; English language is an advantage
