Zayo is seeking a Technical Project Manager, Monitoring and Telemetry Technology, to provide project management to all of our initiatives at Zayo. Our Project Manager will oversee projects related to network performance, security, monitoring and telemetry. The candidate will be responsible for overall project management of this team’s delivery, emphasis on end-to-end milestone management, budget tracking, reporting, identification and resolution of issues ensuring on time, on budget and on value completion of assigned projects.

An effective project manager will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and customers, will be able to track and report real-time updates, and have a close working knowledge of assigned projects. In addition, the role will require expertise in defining, measuring, and reporting on key project performance metrics with focus on improving visibility into migration performance. The position requires technical aptitude and an ability to understand networking, physical security, cabling infrastructure, OSP and ISP (if required) project dependencies in order to make essential decisions based on the project management milestones. Strong organizational and personal communication skills are critical, with attention to details, as this role demands constant interaction with internal support teams, vendors and customers.

Responsibilities

● Develop and maintain project plans based on groom migration and optimization initiatives.

● Coordinate large project kickoff meetings; inter - regional coordination meetings, etc.

● Perform daily PM operational tasks for the business, working across multiple internal and external teams.

● Build, maintain, and report operational metrics for end-to-end milestone management.

● Manage existing reports and dashboards.

● Monitor project pipeline for additional optimization synergies with ongoing projects.

● Update internal systems to forecast budget and prepare internal expense change orders.

● Report weekly and quarterly metrics and deliverables.

● Be able to report to management updates and modifications of any process changes to the existing planning, engineering or grooming process.

● Communicate and coordinate plans and strategies with other functional areas including sales, product, engineering, procurement, network operations and field operations.

● Provide cost and schedule analyses for projects

● Program manage the large project queue (project tracker).

● Assist in defining automation next steps to the existing engineering migration process, by working across multiple internal functional groups including Corporate IT, Fiber Solutions, Engineering, and Network Control Center.


Requirements

● Bachelors’ degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or 5 years’ of relevant telecommunications engineering experience.

● Minimum of five (5) years project management experience required with network planning experience preferred.

● Advanced knowledge of optical fiber technical specifications, testing, and link engineering fundamentals.

● Familiarity with DWDM network architectures (i.e. FOADM/ROADM/PON/fixed and flex grid) and signal flow.

● Advanced familiarity with telecommunications service protocol structure and testing (i.e. Ethernet/OTN/SONET/SDH/SAN).

● Familiarity/experience with the following network platforms:

  • Ciena / Cyan / Nortel

  • Infinera

  • Nokia

  • Juniper

  • Cisco

  • ADVA

  • Fujitsu

  • Familiarity with Metasolv/M6 database is a plus.

● Understanding of telemetry (DCN) network design, IP subnetting, and routing protocols (i.e. OSPF).

● Experience with data center and carrier hotel connectivity and telecommunications facility environments.

● Proficiency in the MS Office suite of tools with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint is required or similar Google G Suite tools. Knowledge of Salesforce.com platform is a plus.

● Excellent written and verbal communication/negotiating skills required toward technical/non-technical audiences.

● Ability to work with minimal supervision while being a constructive contributor to a team.

● Effective time management skills and critical thinking.

● Ability/willingness to operate in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Estimated base salary range: $77,100 - $118,600 USD/annually

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
