Mechanical Mechatronic Engineer - Staff

What You'll Do

• The Automation Engineer Staff supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems within manufacturing and warehouse environments. This role is part of the Goodyear Global Manufacturing Engineering team and focuses on configuring and troubleshooting automated equipment such as robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and material handling systems. The position ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of automation technologies while collaborating with plant engineering teams and vendors to resolve technical issues and optimize performance.
• You will be responsible for Automation System Support & Integration
• - Assist in configuring and deploying automation systems, including robotics, AGVs, and material handling equipment.
• - Support integration with existing control systems (PLC, WMS, WCS) to maintain connectivity and reliability.
• - Provide hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
• You will be responsible for Robotics, Ergonomics & Safety
• - Implement robotic solutions that improve efficiency and reduce manual handling.
• - Apply ergonomic principles and conduct safety checks to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• You will be responsible for System Optimization & Continuous Improvement
•  - Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for improvement using data analysis and Lean principles.
• - Assist in developing SOPs and training materials for operators and maintenance teams.
• You will be responsible for Supplier & Technical Coordination
• - Collaborate with automation suppliers and integrators to resolve technical issues and validate solutions.
• - Support vendor activities during installation and commissioning phases.
