The Opportunity
This is a global role based in Bogotá, Colombia. The Senior Specialist, IT Business Analyst, will play a critical role in enabling Abbott Diabetes Care and other global IT initiatives, as may be required, by independently managing small to medium-sized projects from business intake through solution delivery. This role requires strong business analysis expertise combined with hands-on project management capabilities, ensuring business needs are effectively translated into scalable, high-quality IT solutions. The position operates with minimal supervision and partners closely with global business and IT stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
Business Analysis & Solution Enablement
Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams for assigned initiatives.
Lead business intake activities, including stakeholder interviews, workshops, and documentation of business needs.
Translate business requirements into clear functional and non-functional IT requirements, user stories, and solution designs.
Ensure alignment of proposed solutions with Medical Devices and/or Abbott Diabetes Care standards, architecture, security, and global IT strategies.
Support solution validation by coordinating reviews, walkthroughs, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Project & Delivery Management
Independently manage small to medium-sized IT projects across global ADC teams, from initiation through closure.
Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and issue logs.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including business partners, developers, vendors, and IT support functions.
Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
Stakeholder & Communication Management
Build strong working relationships with global business and IT partners.
Facilitate effective communication across time zones and cultures.
Manage scope, expectations, and change requests in a structured and transparent manner.
Act as a trusted advisor to the business by recommending pragmatic, value-driven IT solutions.
Continuous Improvement & Governance
Contribute to the improvement of business analysis and project delivery practices within ADC IT.
Ensure projects comply with Abbott policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational handoff activities.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in IT Business Analysis, IT Project Management, or a hybrid role combining both.
Demonstrated experience managing small to medium-sized IT projects with minimal supervision.
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong ability to translate business needs into IT requirements and actionable solutions.
Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and/or hybrid delivery methodologies.
Experience working with global, cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency with standard project and requirements management tools.
Communication & Leadership
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence without authority and operate effectively in a matrixed global environment.
High level of accountability, autonomy, and ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting healthcare, medical devices, or regulated environments.
Familiarity with Abbott Diabetes Care business processes or systems.
Business Analysis or Project Management certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI‑PBA, PMP, Agile certifications).
