Role Summary

Baker Hughes is looking for an experienced CFD Analyst Engineer for its Completions and Well Interventions division. The candidate will support the design, analysis, and qualification of downhole oil well tools by applying advanced computational fluid dynamics and structural simulation methods. This role works closely with design engineering, testing, and product development teams to improve tool performance, reliability, and durability in harsh downhole environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Petroleum, or related discipline) with 5+ years of experience

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient use of Ansys Fluent for CFD analysis for multiphase flow, sand particle erosion simulation, compressible flow, thermal or fluid structure interaction (FSI)

    • Experience with Ansys Mechanical for structural, thermal, or coupled analyses

    • Working knowledge of SolidWorks for CAD review and geometry preparation

    • Understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and multiphase flow relevant to oilfield applications

    • Ability to set up, solve, and post‑process simulations using commercial CAE tools

  • Reporting & Computing:

    • Ability to document simulation methods and results in technical reports using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheets

    • Comfortable working on Windows‑based computers and engineering workstations

Additional Desired Skills

  • Experience with downhole oil and gas tools, such as completion, production, or artificial‑lift equipment

  • Knowledge of erosion, sand production, high‑pressure/high‑temperature (HPHT) environments

  • Experience with design optimization, parametric studies, automation within Ansys Workbench or optiSLang

  • Some familiarity with programming languages including VBA, Python, C++, or other languages

  • Exposure to additional simulation or pre/post‑processing tools (e.g., Ansys Discovery, Ansys Meshing, Fluent Meshing, SpaceClaim, CFD‑Post, DesignModeler, Design Explorer)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams

  • Experience supporting products through design reviews, testing correlation, and field issues
