About the role
Job Description:
The candidate will be responsible for improving data input and output extraction workflows within a widely used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver that addresses complex aerodynamic problems across multiple flight regimes, from rotorcraft and aircraft to launch vehicles and reentry systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to enhance a tool relied upon by researchers and engineers across NASA centers and throughout the U.S. aerospace industry.
Approximate salary range for this position is $73,000-$128,000 commensurate with education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Implement efficient algorithms for grid compression and solution compression.
- Explore approaches for a movable data extraction surface for wall modelling efforts.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance the efficiency of the code framework.
- Document findings and present them to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical.Engineering. Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with CFD concepts.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran.
- Experience with High Performance Computing and MPI.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Fortran.
- Familiarity with structured-grid CFD algorithms and applications.
- Experience with GPU programming.
- Completion of a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
