Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mac Software Packaging Automation Engineer to join our Compute Engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable automation solutions that streamline the macOS software packaging and deployment lifecycle. You will leverage expert knowledge of Jamf, macOS, and scripting (primarily Bash or Python) to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and enhance the reliability of software distribution across the enterprise.

This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on automation, optimization, and building robust systems that support large-scale macOS environments.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows to streamline macOS software packaging, deployment, and updates
  • Build reusable, modular, and version-controlled scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) that automate end-to-end packaging processes
  • Create, test, and deploy software packages and policies in Jamf Pro, ensuring silent installation, security compliance, and minimal user disruption
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for packaging automation using tools such as Git, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
  • Develop internal tools or frameworks to reduce repetitive work and increase the reliability of software releases
  • Troubleshoot packaging issues, deployment failures, and macOS system interactions
  • Maintain documentation for packaging standards, automation processes, and operational runbooks
  • Collaborate closely with security, platform engineering, and endpoint management teams to ensure compliance with organizational policies
  • Monitor and optimize performance of packaging workflows and Jamf Pro environments
  • Stay current with macOS platform changes, Jamf capabilities, and industry best practices for Apple platform management

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience managing macOS environments in an enterprise setting
  • Strong proficiency with Jamf Pro administration, including policies, configuration profiles, Smart Groups, and scoping strategies
  • Advanced skills in Bash scripting; experience with Python or other scripting languages is a plus
  • Deep understanding of macOS system internals, frameworks, filesystem structure, and software packaging formats (PKG, DMG, app bundles)
  • Hands-on experience automating software packaging, deployment, or configuration workflows
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD automation
  • Experience with API integrations (Jamf API, REST APIs)
  • Strong debugging and problem‑solving abilities in macOS environments
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and translate operational needs into automated solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Jamf cloud migrations or multi-environment Jamf management
  • Knowledge of package‑building tools (Composer, MunkiPkg, pkgbuild, productbuild)
  • Experience with MDM frameworks, Apple Business Manager, and DEP/Automated Device Enrollment
  • Familiarity with security hardening, compliance frameworks, or certificate management on macOS
  • Experience developing CLI tools to support internal engineering teams
  • Understanding of modern DevOps practices related to infrastructure automation

Education

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
