Responsibilities
- Safely inspect, repair, and maintain all types of mechanical equipment and facilities including draglines, coal crushers, coal conveyors, vehicles and shop equipment.
- Perform painting / carpentry / construction work; operate large motorized equipment, mobile cranes, forklifts and trucks.
- Requires ability to recognize inefficiencies / waste in mine operation and problem solving skills to eliminate it.
- All other duties as assigned
**This is a bargaining unit position represented by IBEW 2337. Hourly rate $42.59.
Requirements
- Education required: High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
- Position requires 5 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, conveyor maintenance, welding / fitting, rigging/lifting); 5 years dragline experience working on Marion and/or Bucyrus draglines preferred.
- Candidates with less experience will be considered for Apprentice positions assisting the Mine Spec II with the duties above. If hired, Apprentice will be expected to build knowledge, skills, and experience required to fulfill the Mine Spec II role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
- Computer experience preferred
- Previous MSHA experience preferred
- Work is of a physical nature and performed in and outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
- May be required to work a rotating shift of up to 12 hours.
