Overview:
Supports releasing real estate on accounts that are paid in full to support the Commercial Bank, Business Banking, and Leasing business lines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and research requests from business partners and obtain appropriate authority to release real estate collateral as outlined in the request.
- Provide clear instructions to less experienced personnel on what needs to be released.
- Communicate with internal and external business partners throughout the release process as required.
- Send documents to business partners, customers, third parties, or to various jurisdictions for recording as instructed.
- Use third party vendor software to help research and facilitate release requests.
- Update key tracking systems with release information.
- Provide training to new associates.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The CRE Payoff Specialists are responsible for releasing real estate mortgage liens for paid-off loans. The Specialist receives requests through the internal collateral tracking system and reviews each request to ensure the collateral is not securing any active loans. They also collaborate with business partners to ensure that all lien releases are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate’s degree and a minimum of 1 years’ work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 years’ work experience
Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
Minimum of 1 years’ customer service experience
