Role : Earth Scientist Asset Business Delivery

The Asset Business Delivery Earth Scientist is responsible and accountable for delivering technical support to business segments to enable asset growth through brownfield and post-initial investment decision greenfield opportunities. The successful candidate should have broad experience across geology and geophysics disciplines and will deliver subsurface characterization that may include seismic interpretation, well log and surveillance data integration, earth modeling, resource maturation, well maturation, and technology deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Expertise in integrated subsurface characterization, including demonstrated knowledge of seismic interpretation, mapping, log interpretation, earth modelling, stratigraphy, structural geology, deepwater depositional environment, static model building, and volumetric assessment.

Ability to utilize multiple datasets (e.g., logs, pressure, geochem, rock quality, etc.) for integrated interpretation.

Proficient in Petrel and able to utilize/update static models, collaborate with simulation engineers, and support new model construction. 

Experience utilizing workflows and tools for generating new asset development opportunities to mature resources to reserves to production, assessing/mitigating risk, and advancing capital projects.

Skill collaborating and communicating with technical peers, cross-disciplinary teams, and other stakeholders. Able to serve as mentor and adopt/deploy relevant technology.

Required Qualifications

Masters degree in Earth Science, from deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
5-10 years hands-on experience in Oil and Gas with a broad Geologic and Geophysical technical foundation.
Domain knowledge relevant to the energy sector and working knowledge of Oil and Gas value chain (e.g., upstream, midstream, or downstream).
Candidates should have a proven ability to develop integrated interpretations across Geological, Geophysical and Petrophysical data sets and deliver high-quality reservoir management work products and project deliverables.
Fluency in Petrel or similar software is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Earth modeling experience and skills is a bonus.

Selection Criteria 1

Technical Competence: Deep knowledge of subsurface data and workflows including a high level of fluency with reservoir characterization, stratigraphy, static model interrogation, manipulation & building, field development planning, as well as well planning and execution experience.  Experience with subsurface modelling workflows and data integration (e.g. dynamic modelling, mechanical earth modelling, petrophysics, geophysics) is also needed for the role.  Experience with digital/data projects and/or agile project management is a plus.   A breadth of upstream experience would be beneficial including: reservoir management, progression of major capital projects, new field start-up, base business, functional excellence.  DW and gas field experience not required, but desirable.

Demonstrated history of constructively challenging, successfully influencing outcomes, mentoring, and transferring knowledge. Demonstrated history of successfully working with highly competent JV partners. Strong and effective communicator.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
