Physician Assistant – Inpatient Med-Psych

Position Overview
The Department of Psychiatry is excited to re-open a state-of-the-art 36-bed inpatient psychiatry unit, including four high-acuity med-psych beds. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice at the intersection of psychiatric and medical care, supporting a complex and rewarding patient population.
Physician Assistants provide 24/7 coverage and partner closely with psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to deliver comprehensive, integrated care.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary psychiatry team to manage inpatient care
- Conduct daily patient rounds and provide ongoing clinical assessment
- Manage all aspects of patient care, including:
- Documentation and order entry
- Coordination of consults
- Discharge planning
- Respond to acute psychiatric and medical needs on the unit
- Support safe, high-quality care for medically complex psychiatric patients
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2+ years of experience in hospital medicine and/or psychiatric care
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies
- Current New York State PA license
- NCCPA certification
- ACLS and BLS certification
- NYS Infection Control certification
- DEA registration with NYS Opioid Prescriber training compliance
