Senior Manager, Assembly Engineering

This position is based in Kunshan, China.

OSAT Supplier and Engineering Management (20%)

• Serve as Semtech's primary assembly engineering representative at OSAT partners, managing technical relationships and driving accountability for process performance and yield targets.
• Lead process qualifications, new product introductions (NPI), and technology transfers at OSAT sites, ensuring compliance with Semtech's design rules, reliability standards, and quality requirements.
• Conduct regular supplier engineering reviews, including process capability assessments, failure analysis reviews, and corrective action follow-ups.
• Evaluate and qualify new OSAT suppliers or new packaging platforms in alignment with business strategy.

Process Engineering & Yield Improvement (30%)

• Own assembly yield and process quality metrics across assigned OSAT partners; lead structured root cause analysis (RCA) and 8D corrective actions for assembly-related excursions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in assembly process efficiency, material utilization, and cycle time reduction.
• Review and approve OSAT process control plans, PFMEA documentation, and engineering change requests (ECRs/ECNs) working closely with the Supplier Quality Engineering team
• Partner with product and design engineering teams to provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback during product development.

Quality & Reliability (20%)

• Partner with Quality organization to investigate and drive corrective actions for field returns, quality incidents, and customer complaints related to manufacturing
• Establish and monitor manufacturing quality metrics including DPPM, first pass yield, Cpk, and reliability test results

Technical Leadership & Team Development (15%)

• Integration of processes, best practices and transfer technology from internal manufacturing site to OSATs where appropriate
• Stay current with industry trends in advanced packaging (wirebond, flip chip/FCCSP, eWLB fan-out, SiP, BGA) and identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to Semtech's product roadmap.
• Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering Director to define assembly technology roadmaps and supplier capability development plans.
• Develop capabilities of direct reports and share best practices with peers proactively

Cross-Functional Collaboration (15%)

• Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Engineering teams to align on supplier performance, material qualifications, and production readiness.
• Represent assembly engineering in internal program reviews, customer escalations, and supplier business reviews (QBRs/SBRs)
