Job Details:
PURPOSE
To assist with academic programming and courses for high school students attending Summer Discovery at UT Austin in June and July. Must be available to work on campus Monday-Thursday (with some Fridays) from June 15-26 and/or June 29-July 17. This is perfect for UT students looking for a fun, interesting, short-term summer job!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Selected assistants will be responsible for:
- Taking and reporting daily attendance for assigned courses.
- Assisting course instructor with basic classroom needs, such as classroom setup and helping with supplies or copies.
- Acting as class leader during field trips with assigned course, as needed.
- Serving as mentor and campus resource for high school students attending the program.
- Ensuring program and Youth Protection Program policies are always followed.
- Collaborating with residential staffers to ensure high school students are supervised during transitions to/from academic times.
- Remaining in communication with Program Coordinator and Academic Coordinator during assigned shifts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin
- Must be eligible to work (per UT Austin) during Summer 2026
- Must be available to work during Summer Discovery summer sessions and predetermined shifts (see Work Shift section)
SALARY
- $14 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE
- June 15-26 and/or June 29-July 17
- Mondays-Thursdays, no shifts will be scheduled for Thursday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth and shifts will be scheduled for Friday, June 20th
- AM Shift: 8:45am-11:15am
- PM Shift: 12:15pm-2:45pm
- In-person and online trainings required prior to program start date. Required in-person training is tentatively scheduled for June 10 or June 11.
