About the role

Personal Trainer:

  • Nationally recognized personal training certification such as ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc. is required. 
  • Some experience administering fitness assessments and/or consultations. 
  • Some experience designing and leading personal training sessions in an individual or group setting.  
  • Ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote fitness and wellness. 
  • For participant safety, ability to identify the need for modifying movements and communicating and demonstrating these modifications to participants.  
  • Availability to consistently work with a number of clients per semester. 
  • Must have exemplary customer service skills and communication skills. 
  • Responsible for attending regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions. 

Group Fitness Instructor:

  • Certification appropriate for the class format that will be taught. Certifications include, but are not limited to: ACE, ACSM, AEA, NASM, NSCA, Spinning, BOSU, TRX, Zumba, Yoga Alliance, Pilates, Barre. 
  • CPR certification is required. First Aid certification is preferred. 
  • Some experience leading group fitness classes. 
  • Some experience designing workouts and assembling appropriate music playlists. 
  • Ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote fitness and wellness. 
  • For participant safety, ability to identify the need for modifying movements and communicating and demonstrating these modifications to participants.  
  • Availability to commit to a regular schedule of classes each semester. 
  • Must have exemplary customer service skills and communication skills. 
  • Responsible for attending regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions. 

Location of position: Aquatic & Fitness Center, Slaughter Recreation Center, Mem Gym, North Grounds Recreation Center

Compensation: $16-$28 Hourly

Anticipated Weekly Hours: 5-8

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
