Job Description:
Medical PhysicistOperates and maintains all therapeutic equipment, and serves as an advisor to Bay Area Hospital Radiation Safety Officer.SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
- Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
- Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
- Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective critical thinking skills
- Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently
- Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations
- Demonstrated ability in linear accelerator calibration, routine maintenance and quality assurance activities
- Demonstrated clinical Radiation Oncology knowledge of daily linear accelerator treatments, daily QA, computerized treatment planning (3-D and IMRT), simulation and low-dose-rate brachytherapy
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, mathematical and computer background, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in prioritizing assignments
- Maintains knowledge of the radiation and geometric characteristics of the diagnostic and radiation therapy equipment and also the radioactive sources commonly utilized in the hospital and RTC
- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
- Master’s or PhD in medical physics or related field
- Certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics, or American Board of Medical Physics, certified in Radiation Oncology Physics
EXPERIENCE
- Five years (5) experience as a staff medical physicist with demonstrated experience in radiation oncology "Preferred"
- Maintains certification in the American Board of Radiology and/or American Board of Medical Physics
- American Board of Radiology
- Maintains active membership in American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM)
- NEW GRADS WITH 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
- Preference for occupying a Radiation Safety Officer role in addition to Medical Physics.
