About the role

Friendship Hospital for Animals, a leading AAHA- accredited hospital located in Washington D.C. is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic veterinary technician to join our cutting-edge Nephrology team. If you’re looking to work along pioneers in dialysis and kidney transplant care and you value being part of a diverse team – we’d love to meet you!

About the role:

You will provide skilled nursing support alongside board certified Nephrologist Dr. JD Foster and some of the first veterinary nephrology residents. You will also assist with and manage dialysis sessions, assist with complex internal medicine/renal cases, and provide support and communication to both clients and fellow team members. The ideal candidate is already very confident in their technical skills including IV catheterization, phlebotomy, advanced patient monitoring, and anesthesia monitoring. This is a rare opportunity to become part of a world class program providing dialysis, kidney transplant coordination, and complex renal case management.

Schedule: This department is open M-F. This a full time position with four 10 hour shifts per week. Some on call shifts required.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed veterinary technician ( CVT, LVT, RVT) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of veterinary technician experience, preferably in specialty medicine.
  • Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • Experience or interest in nephrology, dialysis, or critical care highly valued.
