Leveraging MUFG’s global network and comprehensive product platform, together with our product specialists we support clients across corporate finance, capital markets, structured solutions, leveraged and project finance and strategic advisory needs.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join our Global Corporate & Investment Banking team in Milan. This role represents the first step in a long-term career path toward senior client coverage or product origination positions.

The Analyst will be fully integrated into the team from day one, working closely with Senior Bankers and Product Specialists and contributing directly to client activities, deal execution, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Coverage & Business Origination

•             Support Senior Bankers in daily client interaction, contributing to idea generation and origination across a wide range of products.

•             Assist in identifying new business opportunities and support onboarding of prospective clients.

•             Prepare high-quality marketing materials, pitch books, and presentations for client meetings.

•             Contribute to the development and execution of Account Plans, ensuring cross-sell opportunities are maximized.

•             Draft clear and accurate call reports to maintain strong internal documentation and follow-up.

2. Deal Assessment & Execution

•             Develop a solid understanding of credit fundamentals across corporate finance, leveraged finance, project finance and fund finance.

•             Prepare Deal Screening Memos, business cases and internal submissions in collaboration with Senior Bankers and Product Partners.

•             Act as first point of contact for internal procedures, supporting execution processes including documentation coordination, checklists, compliance requirements and KYC.

3. Risk, Governance & Internal Reporting

•             Apply MUFG’s risk culture and support the risk assessment framework through thoughtful analysis and disciplined documentation.

•             Gain ownership of KYC, onboarding processes and internal reporting requirements.

•             Ensure full compliance with internal standards, governance requirements and regulatory expectations.

What We Are Looking For

Education & Experience

•             Final-year students or recent graduates (up to 12 months) are encouraged to apply.

•             Candidates with up to 2 years of experience in a top-tier financial institution are welcome; experience in Debt Advisory, Leveraged Finance, Project Finance, or related fields is an advantage but not essential.

•             Internal applicants with the right motivation and skills will also be considered.

Skills & Competencies

•             Strong motivation to work in a client-facing, high-performance environment.

•             Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

•             Proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity and strong commitment to continuous learning.

•             Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and deliver high-quality output under time pressure.

•             Team-player mentality combined with the ability to develop independent insights and propose thoughtful solutions.

•             High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and strong analytical capabilities.

•             Fluency in Italian and English is required; additional European languages or Japanese are a plus.

Culture & Values

Client Centric

•             Always ask the question “how does this impact our Clients?”

•             Think like our Clients and advocate for their success.

•             Listen to the voice of the Client to drive innovation.

•             Be a trusted advisor by providing thoughtful, integrated solutions to meet our Client’s unique needs.

People Focused

•             Connect beyond your Team and leverage our global strength as One MUFG.

•             Value contributions and results over titles and hierarchy.

•             Respect each other, assume good intent, and listen reflectively.

•             Develop yourself and others, learn from mistakes and recognise achievements.

Listen Up. Speak Up

•             Actively listen to diverse perspectives before voicing opinions or making decisions.

•             Ask the difficult questions to stretch our thinking and expand our mind-set.

•             Call out behaviours that don’t align with our values, conduct and culture.

•             Propose innovative ideas even when they may be unpopular.

Innovate & Simplify

•             Be resilient and challenge the status quo to support transformation and innovation.

•             Simplify what does not need to be complex.

•             Be curious about what’s next and doing it better.

•             Expect efficiency and manage Company resources as if they were your own.

Own & Execute

•             Execute with speed, simplicity and transparency to manage risk and drive results.

•             Empower those closest to the issue to solve it.

•             Be accountable for your actions and accept responsibility.

•             Pro-actively prioritize competing objectives to deliver high performance.

What We Offer

Joining GCIB Italy means becoming part of a high-performing, globally connected platform where talent is recognised, supported and accelerated. We offer:

•             A steep learning curve and meaningful responsibility from day one, with direct exposure to senior bankers, product experts and top-tier clients.

•             Career growth opportunities, with a long-term development track designed to progress toward Associate and Senior roles within Client Coverage or Product Origination.

•             International perspective, through interaction with MUFG colleagues across EMEA, the Americas and Asia.

•             Competitive compensation and benefits, aligned with the standards of leading global financial institutions.

•             A modern hybrid working model (1 day per week remote), designed to support productivity, personal development and team cohesion.

We are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
