Research Associate 2

The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate 2, SOM to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Research Associate 2, SOM contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.

Core Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.

  • Participates in the publication of significant research results.

  • Advances expertise through education, training, and research.

  • Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.

  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.

Department specific functions

  • The incumbent will be collecting, organizing, and analyzing data for the Atlas research projects.

  • Acquire an understanding of the research program and the details of specific research projects

  • Study recruitment and enrollment

  • Obtaining informed consent from study participants

  • Collecting family history information and constructing pedigrees

  • Coordinating study visits (including travel arrangements for study participants from out-of-town)

  • Collecting research data, including the performance of study procedures, completion and scanning of source documents, and data entry

  • Maintaining communication with study participants in-between study visits

  • Participate in patient/community outreach activities

  • Perform general clerical (e.g. filing) and other duties as assigned by the principal investigator regulatory specialist, clinical research coordinators or PIs

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft toolset (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, and REDCap is preferred. Strong attention to detail & focus on task completion.  

  • Learning Agility:

  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
