NJM has an opening for a Field Loss Control Representative (Loss Prevention Representative is the official NJM Title) in the Commercial Lines Department.

This can be filled at the Representative or Senior level and salary is commensurate with experience.

This is a field position which requires travel throughout Central to Northern NJ (with occasional travel as needed to NY, PA, CT, DE, and MD).  

The goal of this position is to assist our policyholders in the process of identifying, quantifying, eliminating, or reducing the risk of loss.

This position does not provide a vehicle, but mileage reimbursement is offered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential functions of this job are listed below in order of priority. Regular and predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of the job.                                                                                          
•    Conduct on-site loss control surveys and underwriting evaluations to assess potential hazards for our policyholders and agency partners
•    Prepares loss control reports and sends recommendations to policyholders to help them improve potential risk factors
•    Develop, enhance and present training programs in the area of loss prevention
•    Communicate loss prevention services available to policyholders and agency partners

Required Qualifications and Experience: Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years loss control experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  •  Experience with laptop computers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Safety experience is required 
  • Loss Control and Safety Experience in the Insurance Industry (Workers’ Comp, Commercial Auto, Property and/or General Liability)

Preferred:                                                                                                                           

  •  Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in loss control preferred
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • OHST (Occupational Health and Safety) Certification preferred
  • ARM (Associate in Risk Management) preferred
  • ASC (Advanced Safety Certification from the National Safety Council) or willing to obtain after hire

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $88,176-$102,463
