GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Oversees the daily operation of the individual classroom through the supervising of assistants and meeting each child’s individual needs through the primary caregiving system.  Ensure licensing regulations and STARS standards are maintained within the center in the absence of the management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes a well-managed, child oriented learning environment which is healthy, interesting and attractive. Provides a safe environment that will prevent and eliminate injuries. Maintains clean classroom equipment as outlined by established standards. (25%)

  • Provides supervision and leadership of staff and volunteers through active direction and active involvement in childcare provided in the Playroom. (25%)

  • Implements planned and purposeful play activities which are supportive of a child's needs during their visit to the Playroom. (20%)

  • Plans for, orders and collects needed materials and equipment to support the activities within budgeted guidelines and in consultation with immediate supervisor. (20%)

  • Greets and registers children from parent/guardian, noting any special instructions that parent may provide. Ensures that child leaves with parent or authorized individual. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Human Development and Family Studies, Counseling, Child Development, Therapeutic Recreation or Child Psychology.

  • Previous experience working with children.

  • Child Abuse and Criminal Background Clearances.

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • CPR – American Heart Association

  • National Sex Offender Registry

Preferred

  • Computer skills / Microsoft Office Suite.
